LUMIGNANO ROCK CLIMBING AREA VICENZA
The largest and best developed climbing area in the Vicenza Province is Lumignano, it is located above the town of Lumignano, a small village south of Vicenza and located in the Berici Hills. The numerous cliffs in the valley have been a major climbing destination since the early 1970's. At that time Lumignano offered some of the hardest climbs in Italy with routes such as Orient Express, Atomic Cafe, and Arco d'Ora were top projects, on a lot of climbers tick list. Today with so many sites throughout Europe and the expansion of the difficulty rating Lumignano no longer host the hardest routes, but it is still a destination to be visited. Many individuals are surprised at the stiffness of the grades especially in in the older sectors, Lumignano offers a wide variety of climbs and offers routes for all levels.

Ceredo Rock Climbing Site Italy
Ceredo was "THE" in climbing area, in the Veneto about 10 years ago. The rock was excellent and atmosphere quite and fun. As it got more popular the rock became polished and the greater number of people climbing at the site changed the vibe of the area. However, there was about a two year period that the road to access the area was closed so popularity fell off. And with the development of a few other cliffs in the area the numbers of climbers are not as overwhelming. There are some great routes, and this is a place to put on your tour list. Not a place for an extended visit but worth a couple of days.

ARRAMPICATA NELLA REGIONE VENETA
There are enough bolted climbing sites in the Veneto region to keep you climbing a lifetime. I have been exploring the area since 1985 and still have not climbed at every site nor completed all the routes on my tick-list. The most historical area in the Veneto for rock climbing is Lumignano, bolted in the 70's it use to host some of italy's hardest routes, and even today the classic sector has quality climbs for all levels of climbers. A boom of the crag development occurred in the 90's, however, there has a period of decline after 2000, mostly due to the climber's who were doing the bolting started to age and not a lot of younger individuals taking their place. The decline can also be contributed to less easily accessible cliff face, cost of materials, and the popularity of bouldering and indoor gyms, and an economical upswing of the Italian economy. Several sites have gone unattended and no longer are open to climbing, but there is hope many of the areas will come back into use. There are a small group of young climbs opening routes in the Sugana valley and Agrodine areas, and other climbing groups starting to clean and maintain the classic routes.
